12.4. – 14.4.2023
Expedition travelers to the realms of the afterlife, obsessed archivists of the supposedly invisible, dream collectors … – they all populate Gerhard Roth’s (1942-2022) literature. He constructed arks in which he stored and saved things aesthetically.
The three-day symposium uses readings, lectures and discussions to illuminate Gerhard Roth’s work, his memories, self-archiving, labyrinths, mental images and writing models, as well as his relations to the fine arts. Passages from the fragment of the novel Jenseitsreise are also presented in a reading.
Daniela Bartens and David J. Wimmer are responsible for the conception of the symposium of the Franz Nabl Institute for Literary Research at the University of Graz.
In cooperation with the Kulturhaus St. Ulrich im Greith.
