In the exhibition, seven Ukrainian artists show their positions. From works that were created before Putin’s army launched the all-out attack on Ukraine. They experience the war directly. With all its horrors and cruelties. But they don’t give up. They want to encourage, give hope and confidence. “Darkness and Lights”. Also means: “світло v Темрява” – light in the darkness.

Suffering and fear can be seen in the works of the artists, but also rebellion, pride and resistance, unwavering will to survive, caring cohesion and tenderness.

Creating and experiencing art in moments of greatest need to overcome adversity has always been a drive for people. For this, art must be authentic, personal view, individual expression, reflection of one’s own life situation.

But no darkness lasts forever. Someday the light will come back.

Artists: Aleksei Bordusov, Mariana Luchi, Anton Hudo, Oleksandr Grebenyuk, Jovo Keno, Julia Tveritina, Dzvinya Podlyhashetska.
