Bernhard Hausegger’s paintings and objects are reminiscent of cartoon characters. Shadowy figures and fragmentary bodies in partly large-format oil paintings seem to change the pictorial levels effortlessly.
Hausegger studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna with Bruno Gironcoli. And if you like, you can definitely see an influence of his teacher in the lush forms of his characters.
Hausegger knows how to give the figures in his sculptures and pictures a melancholic irony that seems to be transferred to the space in which they are shown.
