Contemporary circus in a wintry setting: the winter festival opens up new worlds of circus art in the Salzburg Volksgarten.
At the end of the year, the largest festival for contemporary circus in the German-speaking world will take over the Volksgarten in Salzburg. With its circus arts, the winter festival conjures up magical moments of joy and pause in the hectic pre-Christmas period.
Circus companies, mostly from France, but also from Spain, Switzerland and Great Britain, have already performed in the tents in the Salzburg Volksgarten. The spectrum of what is on offer ranges from visual arts to performing arts with dance, music, drama, acrobatics or puppet theater.
Away from the circus ring, the winter festival always offers a diverse supporting program. The arc ranges from concerts and exhibitions to film afternoons, pop-up flea markets and more.
