Every two years, the Architekturzentrum Wien presents a selection from the nominations for the EU Mies van der Rohe Award, Europe’s most prestigious architecture prize, as part of the exhibition “Europe’s Best Buildings“.
Outstanding projects will be shown whose visionary character serves as an orientation, if not a manifesto, for the development of contemporary architecture.
From the more than 500 nominated projects from 41 countries, a total of 40 projects were selected for the exhibition by the top-class jury chaired by the Mexican architect Tatiana Bilbao and with the participation of the Austrian architect Georg Pendl, including five projects from Austria: the Neustift school campus in the Stubaital by fasch&fuchs, the new gallery and casemates by Bevk Perović Arhitekti, the conversion and extension of the town house in Linz by mia2 Architektur, the Gleis 21 assembly project by einszueins architektur and the studio building C21 by Werner Neuwirth.
