From the digital world to the living room: 32 x 32 pixel art figures conquer our everyday lives.

“One bring the sparkling wine!”: Have you ever wished for a tokenized 32 x 32 pixel Michael Häupl pixel portrait?

The artist collective VRON has started with CryptoWiener a blockchain art project with Viennese charm.

CryptoWiener are stylized 32 x 32 pixel portraits of well-known Viennese personalities. From Sigmund Freud to Niki Lauda and Michael Häupl.

In the OK Centrum Linz, these pixel portraits are transferred to the real space of the exhibition rooms as larger-than-life pixel figures. However, the analogue exhibition rooms only form the framework for a multi-dimensional exhibition environment that uses multi-media channels, in which the visitors themselves can become actors with their cell phones.

The mobile phone becomes a portal with which one can be guided through the colorful virtual pixel world of CryptoWiener: from a coffee house, with Mozart at the piano, one can get to the “Würstel Stand” or the football field and meet iconic Austrian personalities at the “Meet and Greet”.

Visitors become part of this digital world, learn to move and communicate in it.

They will be part of a metaverse that is guaranteed Marc-Zuckerberg-free. In the end one can take a part of the experience home with you as tokenized piece of personal crypto art.

With the exhibition, the artist collective is also pursuing the goal of teaching visitors skills in dealing with the new possibilities of blockchain in a playful way. For the artist collective VRON, a project like CryptoWiener is part of the “digital emancipation” of art and artists, who can emancipate themselves a big step from the gatekeepers and mediators of the art business with their selfcontrolable tokenized Cryptoart.
