In this exhibition, Oliver Ressler explores the climate crisis, the climate justice movement, and its relationship to art. Barricading the Ice Sheets” is a research project that exemplifies how mobilizations, activities, assemblies and working meetings of horizontally organized climate movements, have now emerged around the world. It shows: polite protest is a thing of the past, solutions are rather achieved through collective action. Already in spring 2020, a conference on the topic took place at Camera Austria; the exhibition now presents the artistic production that emerged from Oliver Ressler’s more than two years of research.
