O-Töne – Literature Festival / Museumsquartier, Wien

(c) O-Töne 2021

08.07. – 26.08.2021.

Reputation meets debut! This exciting compilation of literary positions in Austrian literature is what characterizes O-Töne, the literature festival in the Museumsquartier.

The courtyards of the MuseumsQuartier are already inviting. Now, when the stage for O-Töne is set up every Thursday in the main courtyard, one can become a guest of a high-quality cross-section of the current output of contemporary Austrian literature.

For the opening on July 8, Vorarlberg writer Monika Helfer, recently awarded the Solothurn Literature Prize, will meet Thomas Arzt, internationally acclaimed dramatist. Moderated by Daniela Strigl, who together with Klaus Kastberger is responsible for the program selection, Monika Helfer will read from her current book “Vati” and before that Thomas Artz will read from his debut novel “Die Gegenstimme”.

Pairings readings will follow each Thursday: Rahaela Edelbauer and Katharina Schaller, Egon Christian Leiter and Ferdinand Schmalz, Olga Flor and Renate Silberer, Hanno Millesi and Anna Felnhofer, Angela Lehner and Christina Walker, and Michael Köhlmeier and Sabine Schönfellner.

At the festival’s closing on August 26, Eva Menasse will read from her latest work “Dunkelblum,” and before that Ulrike Haidacher will read from her debut “Die Party. Eine Umkreisung”.
