Bianca Baldi „Cameo“ / Grazer Kunstverein

(c) Bianca Baldi

16.04. – 13.06.2021.

Works by the artist Bianca Baldi will be exhibited at the Grazer Kunstverein. In her artistic work, Baldi deals with the function of narrative as a means of generating knowledge in fictional as well as historical contexts. She is interested in the representation of identity and history and explores these themes through the means of photography, film, writing and publishing, which she combines into installations in the exhibition format. Turning her gaze to the animal kingdom, artist Bianca Baldi uses examples of creatures that use the mutability of their skin pigments as a method of “passing” expressly for self-preservation. In sociology, the term “passing” describes the attribution of an individual to an identity group or category to which they do not belong. This can include ethnicity, social class, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age, and/or disability.
