The Kunsthaus Bregenz shows works by Pamela Rosenkranz. The artist deals with the biological foundations of our perception. She works with plastics, scents, earth and light, bacteria and parasites. In doing so, the artist formulates a vision of sublime yet unsettling zones, which she stages as expansive experiences for Kunsthaus Bregenz. “What makes us feel the way we do?” asks Rosenkranz, who designed the Swiss Pavilion for the Venice Biennale in 2015.

The exploration of the culturally charged motif of the snake is part of Rosenkranz’s latest body of work. For the 14th Sharjah Biennial in 2019, she is working for the first time with a robotic snake that moves in the hot sand in the courtyard of a building enclosed by arcades. It is the engineered form of a robot moving through lateral coils that interests the artist; she is currently working on a new apparition that will find its “habitat” at Kunsthaus Bregenz.
