At NonStopScheiner you can see the CORONA_Rolle, an 80-minute film art project by Elisabeth Scharang, in cooperation with Diagonale and Kunst im öffentlichen Raum. As a kaleidoscope of moods, the CORONA_Rolle reflects the first Lockdown in 2020 and consists of over 1,500 private videos. In this case, the NonStopScheiner functions as an open-air cinema that is open to the public around the clock and free of charge.

“In 2020, all of our daily lives were unhinged and brought to a standstill. CORONA_Rolle is the cinematic testimony of the social and artistic state of emergency – the ultimate contemporary document of an imposition. While the cinemas remain closed, the manifold comments, observations, analyses from Lockdown #1 push back into the public space in NonStopScheinerzurück. Witty, humorous, urgent. Let’s bring cinema back into our everyday lives,” say Diagonale festival directors Sebastian Höglinger and Peter Schernhuber.

Elisabeth Fiedler, director of the Institute for Art in Public Space, adds: “The NonStopScheiner will once again deliver artistic films on contemporary themes to all passers-by. With the docking option for headphones, this year’s program is expanded by the dimension of sound. Surveillance or mobility appear thematized as well as artists question the meaningfulness of our actions, social or political decisions.
