On 16.06. an exhibition with the theme “Hiroshima appeals” will start at the Designforum Wien. On display will be works commemorating the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, a collaboration between the Japan Designers Association Inc. and the Hiroshima International Cultural Foundation. The campaign ran for the first time from 1983 to 1989 and was resumed in 2005 on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. Since then, a further monkey by a Japanese artist has been added every year as a warning cry against violence, war, hatred and contempt for humanity. 2020 marks the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. Yet for many people, living in peace is still not a matter of course. All 22 designs by leading Japanese poster designers created so far in the context of the campaign can be seen at designforum Wien until 13 September 2020.
