On three reading evenings, the well-known Viennese actor and speaker Martin Ploderer deals with the priority theme chosen by the Austrian Cultural Forum Brussels for the year 2020: the element “fire”. Texts by Elias Canetti and Manès Sperber will be heard, dedicated above all to the fire of the Vienna Palace of Justice on 15 July 1927, one of the most politically lasting events of the interwar period in Austria. Martin Ploderer will give the texts his distinctive voice.
Ploderer has received several awards for his readings. He succeeds in using speech modulation to give each character its own character and to give the dialogues dramatic tension. Martin Ploderer was awarded first place in the audio book best list of the Hessischer Rundfunk for the first unabridged reading of the First World War drama “Die letzten Tage der Menschheit” by Karl Kraus.
