Emil Pirchan as a universal artist is the focus of an exhibition at the Leopold Museum, which opens at the end of May. Pirchan (1884-1957) was a pioneer of Expressionist stage design, but also an imaginative poster designer who celebrated considerable success in the highly competitive field of advertising graphics. He was also a costume designer, designer, book illustrator, author of several artist monographs, novelist, teacher and many more. The Leopold Museum shows the artist’s extensive oeuvre through numerous objects – including furniture, stage and costume designs, architectural models, posters and much more.
