What artistic research can and wants to be: The University of Applied Arts Vienna as a guest in Tokyo.

The exhibition “UNDERSTANDING – ART & RESEARCH” will be shown in Tokyo to mark the tenth anniversary of the relationship between the University of Applied Arts Vienna and the Tokyo University of the Arts.

The exhibition focuses on the understanding of artistic research and as a consequence on perception and experience. With the aim of contributing to the transformation of society, the projects move between research and teaching, science and art, design and architecture.

On display are twelve projects, artistic positions by Barbara Graf and the audio-visual documentation of all projects previously shown at UNDERSTANDING – ART & RESEARCH.
