Was it the gardener? Or was it the butler? The crime festival casts a murderous shadow on Salzburg.

At the peng! (pow!) 11th Crime Festival in the Literaturhaus, three crime nights with German-language and international crime novelists will be offered – from Friedrich Ani and Franzobel to Mick Herron and Paulus Hochgatterer to Eva Rossmann and Heinrich Steinfest and many more. There will also be moderated readings and discussions, a morning programme for schools (with Ursula Poznanski), the presentation of the prizewinner of the 1st Servus Short Crime Competition and the PENG party with DJ Kollektiv Tanzbar.

Dangerously lively: Crime thrillers are probably the most widely read literary genre in the world and even Elfriede Jelinek confesses: “I like to read crime thrillers myself”. For three days, debutants and renowned writers will be reading from their works and, of course, the crime genre will again be hotly debated in conversations. At this year’s Reading Festival, authors such as Friedrich Ani and Franzobel, Mick Herron and Paulus Hochgatterer, as well as Eva Rossmann and Heinrich Steinfest, among others, will provide murderously good entertainment.
