16.02. – 21.05.2018; Linz.
Collected Beauties: Exhibition at LENTOS.
In 1918, the Viennese avant-garde lost three of ist most outstanding exponents: Gustav Klimt, Koloman Moser and Egon Schiele.
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of their death, Elisabeth Nowak-Thaller, Brigitte Reutner and Andreas Strohhammer curate the works of the three artists from the holdings of the Linz’s municipal museums LENTOS and NORDICO as well as from the Oberösterreichischen Landesmusseum, supplemented by works of art loaned by private collectors – united in an exhibition.
The collection presentation spans two levels, dealing with the sometimes enigmatic biographies of portraits and complex provenances, answering restoration questions and presenting new art-historical findings.
Also on display will be the painting “Trude Engel” by Egon Schiele, to which the Ars Electronica Center Linz will dedicate an evening event on 15 March. As part of the event series “Deep Space LIVE”, in which high-resolution imagery in the format 16 by 9 meters meet expert commentary, the restorer Andreas Strohhammer tells of the emergence of the portrait and uses Gigapixel photos to highlight what is behind the portrait. Afterwards, a guided tour with the curator will take place in the LENTOS.
